Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation

Hands down. The best powder foundation ever. Quote me on that. I've searched all my life for the best base and I think I have found the one. Because Laura Mercier showed me what flexible means. And you'll know what I mean below.

SRP: PHP 2250
Availability: Rustan's Department Stores

(+) First impression is already really good: the foundation disappears in color which is a sign of a very nice product. Color-true veil indeed!! While you can't see the difference yet, wait until you see

(+) In 20 shades of extraordinary

(+) Portable and convenient compact

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation (permanent)
(+) I tested it on my sister who has dry skin (I will do it on my oily skin soon) but as you can see below as I slowly placed the product on her face, it provides a natural looking, smooth, soft matte finish with a soft focus effect.

(+) Blurs fine lines and impurities right away - never settles into them. THAT'S WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. Most good foundations in coverage would cover everything but this one only blurs it which makes the overall look still nice yet natural. It instantly reduces the look of shine at application and smoothes away the look of lines and pore.
(+) Coverage is even and flawless and provides skin with a clean, natural look

(+) Now most foundations (especially full coverage ones) will cake or crease on areas of the skin where there are muscles or lines - like the eyes and near the lips (when we smile). And that is why those areas need to be softly treated - no thick applications. As you can see below, nonetheless, the foundation moves with the skin - meaning when the muscles move when you smile for example, it doesn't stay at the skin and create lines. Notice that with your foundations after you read this.

(+) And it's because it has ultra-fine micronized pigments that flex with skin; Allows the formula to “roll” on skin for a perfect blendability

(+) Now I tried this flexibility on the eyes where we would usually see lines. Concealers, contrary to popular belief, should be just thinly applied to avoid this scenario. I slightly wet the foundation and placed it on my sister's undereye and see how it transformed the dark area into a natural-looking yet covered one.

(+) Conditioning agents, Vitamin E and Shea Butter provide hydrating, lightweight-comfort, second-skin feeling; Feels creamy, light and fresh on skin throughout the day; Non-greasy, never dusty

(+) Long-wearing; all day wear (8 hours); waterproof (no "hulas" effect which usually happens with thick greasy foundations)
(+) Treated pigments help prevent oxidizing of the colour, and help prevent colour from looking ashy

Lightweight, silky thin film adheres perfectly on skin assuring a very smooth and flawless finish

(+) Dermatologist and allergy tested; Suitable for all skin types, even sensitive; with SPF 20/PA+++ claim for Asia Markets only; Oil-free and fragrance-free

(+) Provides dual coverage in the form of a sheer to medium powder or buildable wet foundation which allows you to customize your coverage (I will try the medium coverage on my face)

1. Sheer to Medium coverage (Dry): Use the enclosed sponge and apply just as you would a pressed powder to the desired areas of the face avoiding the eye area.

2. Medium to Full coverage (Wet): Dampen the sponge and apply desired amount; smooth onto the face avoiding the eye area.

Overall, second skin comfort meets color-true wear, wet or dry. This silky-smooth innovation offers a natural veil that imparts a color true finish. It glides on effortlessly, camouflages, hydrates and visibly reduces lines. It's everything I want in a foundation. I definitely recommend (and repurchase - see my two compacts in Instagram!). Despite the price because it's really worth it and it's that good, I can swear by this product, really.

  1. Laura Mercier foundations are quite expensive but the smooth feel makes it totally worth the price!
