Maybelline Lip Polish

Lip glosses are the least important stuff in my make up kit but Maybelline just changed that. Combining color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss, Lip Polish is the new lip thing. Let's review!

Lip Polish is known as Color Elixir outside Asia. There are over 20 shades available in the US but only about 8 are available here in the Philippines. Reasons for this is that the formulation might have been changed to accommodate Asian skin needs. For example, Color Elixir has a creme brulee scent to it while the Lip Polish is unscented. Based on reviews, Color Elixir seemed to go tacky after an hour or two on the lips while Lip Polish remains smooth.

(+) The exclusive smoothing angora brush delivers a polished , even application and smoothing sensation to lips < (+) Using the brush, streaks of my favorite shades can be seen but it transfers a good amount of product. Good color payoff and high-shine at this step already. (+) Applying evenly using fingers, the swatches show Ok consistency with good coverage. (+) The shimmers are white and are a bit large but the good quality of the gloss makes it ultra volumizing. (+) Easy to spread and apply (+) Despite the high shine and volume it gives, it's not sticky and after a few hours, it still stays. (+) It doesn't have that super sticky (glue like feel) after hours which most glosses with this finish give. (+) On lips, I love that it doesn't give that fake gloss (too wet-looking) which I call the "lechon effect" because of the good formula.





(+) Hydrating and non-drying; It also gives a (+/-) Pop 6 is actually the best from the different shades that you can consider as both lipstick, balm and gloss because of the color coverage. Others give sheer or frost finish.


(+) It's also nice to have a lip gloss that doesn't stain the lips.
(+) Coverage and consistency is just really nice across all. Other lip glosses builds on the center of the lips but even if it's layered with coats, it just volumizes the lips consistently.





(+) With my favorite color Sensational shade, the gloss just intensifies lipsticks without making it look too wet or glossy.

Apply lipcolor with applicator wand starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip.

(+) Not too strong scent (-) Doesn't last that long but it doesn't wear off that easily. For around 2-3 hours, it gives good quality with its really balanced shine, volume and feel.
Overall, especially for its price, the Maybelline Lip Polish made me believe and use lip glosses again. Perfect for the spring-summer, these glosses produce hypnotizing lips with a great luxurious feeling that's comparable to premium gloss brands ( I tried comparing to Lancome's newest and it fares well!)
