#BelieveinMagique BTS

Yesterday, L'Oreal Makeup Designer / Paris challenged us to believe in Magic - that is to testify to the mattifying and transformative power of the new MAT Magique - a sister of the famous Lucent Magique that I've reviewed here on the blog. As one user of L'Oreal Paris foundations for years, I wanted to try this new line and while you know that I'm a fan of highlighters - which Lucent has in it! - matte foundations are great bases indeed for oily skin types like me!

But also, I heard that BJ Pascual, a renowned protographer represented by At East | Jed Root, would be taking our portraits after trying the line so I was really excited about it, actually quite nervous because BJ is a real PRO! ;) I always see his work in most magazine covers and billboards, and I am a real fan of his work. It was really exciting doing this with him and the team (Thank you L'Oreal Paris and BJ!) despite a super busy first week of January, by creating a look that I've never explored so much in this blog - a matte one that is made possible by the formula made of natural sebum absorber - volcanic pertile. LOTD and review soon at this blog!

P.S. I didn't place so much VSCO filter in the photos so you can see initially how matte and nice the foundation finish is!

Believe in Magique

Together with fellow media and bloggers, we were so gratfeul to be photographed by BJ Pascual to testify to the power of the MAT Magique, the review of which I'll post soon. As my skin always gets tired from testing a lot of skin care and makeup, I really like how MAT Magique gave my skin a good coverage despite dullness and large pores due to acne and my super oily skin. Similar to Lucent Magique, I like how it helped the imperfections but this time, without the easier way of perfecting skin: illuminators. The matte effect is truly noticeable and versus the other L'Oreal Paris product, this is truly one mattifying foundation.
Anyway, below are more photos, using other L'Oreal Paris / Makeup Designer products with an eye color that I always see in the runway.  #BelievingInMagique, you too can join the L'Oreal Makeup Designer/Paris consumer launch on January 31 to February 1 at SM Mall of Asia Atrium. A special treat await those who simply visit and purchase a Mat Magique for a chance to have their profile photos taken as well by none other than BJ Pascual!

30 Things of 2014

2014 was a big year for beauty and with launches, relaunches and limited editions left and right, online or department store level, it gets exciting but also a bit overwhelming. Sometimes, I still get confused and amazed at the same time whenever I visit a cosmetics store, but below are my favorites from last year that are unique, hard-working and special in their ways!

L'Oreal Paris True Match

In the L'Oreal TVC, Jennifer Lopez said that True Match wasn't her first (meaning, foundation), but for me it was and have been ;) Seriously, ever since college (or early high school), up until now,  this is my go-to and everyday brand in terms of tints and let's see why...

L'Oreal Paris Lucent Magique Concealer Pen

"Lucent" by definition means giving off light, translucent, luminous and clear. Let's see if this new corrector pen stays true to its name and 5 target areas (lids before eye shadow, over under eye area, around corners of the nose, fine expression lines and contour around lip area), as the BB cream did.

L'Oreal Paris Lucent Magique Concealer Pen (6J195 Light)
SRP: PHP 545
Availability: Leading Department Stores

(+) Texture is semi-liquid, not really like a concealer cream or stick.
After blending
(+) Color is pinkish cream which matches my arm's skin tone on a bluish light
(+) Coverage is not too thick but it definitely lightened the arm's skin with a translucent luminous light finish.

Applying on under eye, lids and contours of nose,
(-) The pen is hard to control so make sure you twist it very carefully and do it in dots.
(+) However it's very easy to blend
Using fingers to blend (by dabbing)
(+) compared to the right side, clearly, I corrected my reddish/pinkish skin tone on a yellowish light
(+) a luminous finish can be seen
(-) which means that coverage is average. It really can't conceal that much in the sense of application, only in illusion. If you have really dark circles, this might not work so you might have to double the coverage.
(+) imperfections, lines dark circles were hidden with the illusion of a clearer lighter skin
(+) lids clearly brightened also which is perfect prior to eyeshadow application
(+) Aside from lightening, you can see micro-shimmers (shining like crystals when joined together) which hide lines and imperfections upon hitting of light on the surface - the illusion of a perfect skin right after
(+) But also, if you can notice below (especially on the right side where I left an area bare, it made the eye or the area of application pop because the illusion of light. This is perfect for people who have deep-set eyes.
(+) True enough, with this effect, it can be perfect for contouring purposes especially on lips or even on the nose area as it will create a lifting effect
Since it's kind of really white on my face tone, I used the Lucent foundation and powder (lined up for review!!) on top as you can see below which gave a better healthy-looking color with good coverage, but not cancelling out the luminous and light effect.
Truly magical and true to its promises! Overall, I recommend and will repurchase this again especially that the price is not that bad! Of the concealer pens, this is one rises above all because of its special lifting/highlighting effect  that could stay for a long time. For me, this can replace my concealer but for those who have really dark circles, you can correct using concealer then top it off with this magical pen!

Hope you liked the review!

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche New shades

I had a phase wherein I would look for the most colorful, intense and pigmented matte/semi-matte lipsticks but through time, I realized that they're just cosmetic - intense matte ones would dry my lips really hard, or some would give half-baked colors. I have been a user of Color Riche lipstick for a long time and I have always adored its color payoff given its price but now, L'Oreal brings news to all lipstick lovers and I'm so excited to share it with you.

L'Oreal Paris Lucent Magique BB Cream

I'm not really a user of BB creams because most would be to thick and since I put a lot of makeup in my oily skin (e.g. foundation every day) I need a good semi-transparent and non-oily base - and not too white! - to use this prior foundation. But since BB creams (which means blemish balm) are really meant to perfect skin (as skin care) while wearing makeup (with or without tint), I really needed one. And then I saw this.

And oh, Doutzen is my favorite Angel! ;)
Transformation. I'm really attracted to this word. So if this BB cream adapts to skin tone, transforms skin because of its light-reflecting pigments, mattifying effect, and more, I think I found the right BB for me.

"L’Oreal Paris introduces the very 1st self-evolving & light reflecting BB Cream-- L’Oreal Paris Lucent Magique BB Cream transforms bare skin texture into a radiant, light-reflecting canvass with no visible imperfections. The secret— its breakthrough formula with self-evolving Magique BB capsules. These innovative micro capsules with an ultra-sensitive double coating that keeps the color pigment within FRESH until application so color finish accurately matches the skin. Watch as the moist milky-white texture magically adapts to the skin tone as the high-tech BB capsules are activated."

As per L'Oreal, there's instant skin transformation w/ 10 BB benefits:
1.     Skin color matched
2.     Skin tone evened out
3.     Skin texture refined
4.     Pores erased
5.     Lines smoothed
6.     Spots covered
7.      Dullness reduced
8.     SPF 20/ PA+++
9.     24 hour hydration
10.   Oil balance mattifying

Stay tuned for my detailed review of this new product! So excited to share with you.
